The S2G Finance Team is Growing! We are looking to hire a Director, Finance!
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the preferred Director, Finance candidate is a forward-looking and hands-on leader who has extensive experience with developing team members and analyzing the performance of short and long-term financial objectives.
This role will work with the various business leaders to ensure smooth operation of the Finance and Accounting department activities within a large business unit. This role will coordinate the daily financial operations and controllership functions, ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
This role will own all financial processes, planning, and reporting and actively work with the team to support the company’s growth with more effective and efficient processes, resulting in better decision-making and outcomes.
Corporate Finance and Management
- Seek opportunities for process improvements & efficiencies
- Support VP, Finance with strategic leadership to the business teams
- Lead and facilitate cross functional business meetings
- Management and compliance of tax related matters
- Support VP, Finance and Global CFO with tax and related due diligence matters
- Lead and mentor the Finance reporting team
- Oversee Accounts Receivable function to ensure timely payments of invoices
- Manage the customer deduction process to ensure all debits are cleared on time
- Coordinate collection efforts with the sales and operational teams
- Maintain and implement credit controls
- Analyze outstanding amounts including aging and DSO
- Analyze customer financial information to determine credit worthiness
- Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to support the preparation and analysis of financial outlooks and financial forecasts
- Participate in financial planning/forecasting process
- Review account reconciliations and ensure that reconciling items are appropriately addressed
- Create and ensure finance best practice and accounting policies, chart of accounts etc. are aligned with global policies and practices
- Monitor and analyze monthly and quarterly operating results against budget
- Collaborate with Vice President. Finance, to perform analytical review of Balance Sheet and P&L accounts to assist with variance analysis
- Implement and maintain compliance with appropriate accounting and internal control framework(s)
- Adherence, validation, and certification of financial statements for local and international issues, including financial statement preparation under IFRS/ASPE
- Lead compliance with regulatory requirements, including researching and providing guidance to business on accounting and regulatory issues. Prepare the interpretation and application of complex accounting standards for the Company, including writing and reviewing research papers and working with various business groups to assess underlying issues and facts
- Analyze data and prepare executive summary for operational, financial, and strategic decision making
- Responsible for all local legislative reporting and payment requirements
- Oversee all audit, tax compliance and internal control operations
- Contribute to foreign currency risk management policies & procedures
- Manage monthly and quarterly reporting cycles/close procedures to maintain appropriate accounting records and preserve the financial integrity of the financial statements
- Consolidate the financial results on the monthly basis and assist with the group consolidation
- Review and approve intercompany and external payments
- Prepare analysis and presentation of Internal Financial Reports for the Executives and members of Management on monthly basis
- Prepare and analyze external reports (Bank/Legal/Tax/Audit)
- Responsible for all local legislative reporting and payment requirements
- University Bachelor's or master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field; Accounting & CPA designation required (CA preferred)
- 7+ years post-qualification management experience
- Strong knowledge of IFRS / US GAAP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make effective decisions and recommendations with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Outstanding presentational skills and ability to facilitate quality meetings
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Great Plains
- Proven experience with developing complex financial models, capable of producing timely and accurate, forward-looking financial information
- Self-Driven, results oriented leader with experience building and mentoring teams of various sizes
- Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling excellent working relationships internally and externally
- Experience in M&A and business integration post-acquisition is an asset
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a demanding environment, and maintaining the highest level of professionalism and ethics
- Spanish/English bilingual an asset
